How does Tina Fey do it?
Pictured to the left is much maligned vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and to the right is beloved comedy superstar Tina Fey. If you've ever done as much as looked at an entertainment magazine you know how amazing she is. Not only does she play the fourth or fifth funniest character on 30 Rock, she also created the show and single-handedly wrote the pilot that only needed drastic retooling before the show became funny. What's most impressive about her is that she's able to do things that thousands of other comics have done, while being mildly physically attractive.
In Fey's most recent comedic achievement, she's been doing a spot-on impersonation of Sarah Palin in Saturday Night Live sketches. What's most amazing about this portrayal is that Fey has managed to completely channel a character who is so unlike herself. After all, Sarah Palin is a woman near the age of 40 who is horribly overrated in her field, she delivers everything she says in the most insufferably, disgustingly smug manner humanly imaginable, and she's gained far more attention that she should ever reasonably deserve just because she happens to be somewhat good looking. I'll just come right out and say it: I have no idea how Tina Fey manages to so successfully portray a woman that has so little in common with herself.
